BAKU, Azerbaijan – Yesterday, a delegation from the Ohr Avner Chabad Found paid a visit to the Zykh, District of Baku, which is situated in the eastern part of the capital.
Here, a new Jewish educational complex is to be constructed in order to offer a solid Jewish education and a brighter future to dozens more youngsters.
Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi of Azerbaijan Meir Bruk, who also serves as the Director General of the Ohr Avner Chabad Baku Educational Complex, led the group of enthusiasts. Among them was also Samir Khanlarov, who is both the Executive Director of Public Relations for the Ohr Avner Chabad Baku and Acting Director of the Ohr Avner Chabad Day School, together with Rabbi Matityahu Louis, the Deputy Director of Economic Issues for Chabad Ohr Avner.
The delegation inspected the territory that will host the new complex and became better acquainted with the progress being made in terms of the project’s construction and realization. Comprised of 15,000 square meters, this territory was allotted free-of-charge for this purpose by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Samir Khanlarov noted that Chabad Ohr Avner has already erected the educational and administrative buildings associated with this project, in addition to the dormitories and a new business complex. Now, the project is in its final stage and finishing works must be completed in order for the complex to be considered ready.
“The highest level of work will be achieved in realizing the new Ohr Avner Chabad School complex, whose first stone was laid by the FJC and Ohr Avner Foundation President Lev Leviev, Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar, Deputy Milli Mejlis, and the First Lady of Azerbaijan, and Head of the Heidar Aliyev Foundation, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva,” emphasized Rabbi Bruk.
“It is for this reason that the state administration considers the implementation of this project to be of great importance”.
