This Shabbos, Oholei Torah will be celebrating 57 years since its founding in 5716/1956, as is written in Hayom Yom.
Oholei Torah was founded on the directives of the Rebbe, by Reb Michoel Teitelbaum obm, and his Rebbetzin Esther Teitelbaum, Tzu Lange Yorhen.
A grand Kiddush and farbrengen will mark this occasion at Reb Michoel’s Minyan, which is held in the Raitport Beis Medrash in the Eastern Parkway Campus.
During Shabbos, many divisions of the yeshiva will be having special gatherings and farbrengens.
The Oholei Torah Archive Office has shared a large selection of pictures from the early 1970’s, which was when Oholei Torah moved into the former Brooklyn Jewish Center.

as the doros get weaker and weaker we need to be more strict whether in dress whether in kashrus to keep us in place. we used to wear short sleeves till the age of 8 years ago. today all the chitzoinius is done with the wrong kavonos which we cannot allow,no? that is what i understand.

Amazing! Looking at those pictures, it makes me realize how life was so much simpler then. Oholei Torah is not just an institution, it is a pillar of jewish chasidish education in the 20th century. Oholei Torah did not just teach students….it set a way of life for tens of thousands of people for generations and generations. May hashem give Oholei Torah to continue to be a beacon of light in torah and yiddishkeit now that life is not so simple.

Notice the elementary boys were allowed to wear striped and colored shirts and these boys turned out to be Chassidishe Bochurim. Today with the stifiling of the rules that overwhelm the young bochurim….this shows that it’s okay to be a chasiddishe boy and not make a “Tumel” about the intricate factors of ones Levush at such a young age.
