1) They’re chasidishe yidden, they hold water.
2) They have lachluchis
3) water is a siman for shefa, we are keilim for shefa.
4) everyone is holding water together, ein kli machzik bracha ela hasholom.
5) Ein mayim ela torah, Torah Shebichsav and Torah sheb’al peh.
6) we say on motzei shabbos “Ushavtem mayim besasson”.
7) Ki hamayim matzmichim kol minein taanug, they’re obviously having fun.
8) All shabbos they were drinking yayin like mayim.
The real reason, I have no idea, was wondering the same…
