Always looking to enhance the superb Chassidishe Chinuch of its thousands of students of all ages, and to add world-class talent to their staff, Oholei Torah is proud to announce that Mrs. Rishi Bendet will be joining the Oholei Torah Hanhala as the new Preschool Director.
Oholei Torah Preschool grew and developed under the warm leadership of Morah Faigy Winner-Hertzel, through 50 years of hard and dedicated work, Oholei Torah today is the largest boys Kindergarten serving the Crown Heights and East Flatbush communities, with 300 children Ka”H, located on two separate sites with 17 classes, the yeshiva is expanding the leadership to enhance and support its growth.
Morah Faigy will continue to serve in a Leadership role as a site director, and Kiddie camp director infusing the children with Chassidushe Varimkeit and values.
Mrs. Bendet will lead the preschool, setting the direction and developing the vision to continue to build on the quality of education and instruction offered by our highly regarded and celebrated team of Mechanchos teachers and support staff.
Mrs. Rishi Bendet has spent 18 years in the classroom as a main teacher and has served throughout the years as a curriculum creator and facilitator for many different ages in various Elementary Schools. Her career in Chinuch began in Knoxville, TN where she served as the primary Judaic Studies teacher in the Knoxville Jewish Day School. Her most recent years were spent in Manhattan Day School where she served as a mainstream classroom teacher and as a special education teacher.
“My objective in the classroom is to inspire a lifelong love for learning and a passion for Yiddishkeit and Chassidishkeit,” says Mrs. Bendet. “I am excited to join the esteemed staff at Oholei Torah and look forward to what the future will bring!”
No matter where she has served as an educator, Mrs. Bendet is known as a teacher who is devoted to her craft and as one who fosters close relationships with her students and their parents. In fact, she is the youngest teacher to have been awarded the prestigious Grinspoon Steinhart Award for Excellence in Jewish Education (2008).
She is well known for her supportive collaborations and friendships with her colleagues and fellow teachers. She is well liked by the parents and adored by her students. She has made a lasting impression on her hundreds of students.
There is no doubt that Mrs. Bendet’s extensive experience coupled with her passion for yiddish and chassidishe Chinuch Al Taharas HaKodesh will add so much to the Oholei Torah Preschool and its lucky students.
The preschool leadership team will be further enhanced by Mrs. Sara Kievman (Kramer) who served as interim site director at the 667 campus. Mrs. Kievman brings with her extensive experience as Ed Director and deep understanding of childhood development.
