Ohel Children’s Home and Family Services, in partnership with Communities Confronting Substance Use & Addiction (CCSA), will host a free Narcan training session aimed at equipping community members with the knowledge and tools to reverse opioid overdoses and save lives.
The training, titled “Save a Life: Free Narcan Training,” will take place on Tuesday, March 4th at 7:00 PM at the Ohel Jaffa Family Campus, located at 1268 East 14th Street in Brooklyn.
“Opioid overdoses are closer than you think—they can affect your child, your friend, or your neighbor,” said Dr. Shalom Augenbaum, Clinical Director of Ohel, who will lead the educational session. “With proper training and access to Narcan, community members can be prepared to intervene in emergency situations and potentially save a life.”
The evening will include:
– Education on how Narcan (naloxone) works to reverse opioid overdoses
– Hands-on training for proper administration
– A powerful testimony from an overdose survivor
– Free Narcan kits for attendees who RSVP
“This initiative reflects our commitment to addressing the opioid crisis through education and practical intervention,” said a representative from CCSA. “By making Narcan more accessible and teaching people how to use it, we’re creating a safer community for everyone.”
The event comes at a critical time as communities nationwide continue to battle rising overdose rates. Health officials emphasize that Narcan is safe, easy to administer, and has saved countless lives.
