Rebbitzen Devorah Gancz from Chabad of Suffern, New York just returned from a visit with the Saroussi family of Hermesh, Israel.
In 2002, Linoy Saroussi, their 14-year-old daughter, was brutally murdered, along with her best friend, by a terrorist who invaded their peaceful community.
Since then, Chabad’s Terror Victims Family (CTVP) has been with the Saroussi family, helping them in all ways possible. The trauma and horror of their loss has been with them from that horrific day.
Joining Rabbi Menachem Kutner, Director of CTVP, Rebbitzen Gancz and her group were deeply moved by the visit. Here are the Rebbitzen’s own words:
“What a moving experience to meet a family whose daughter was killed by a terrorist just because she was a Jew living in Israel, and to show them that although we live across an ocean, we are one family, and are here for them and care for them!
“We enjoyed a little Bar Mitzvah celebration with them for their son, Liam and gave the Bar Mitzvah boy an IPad and a pair of tefillin. We also brought with us a check with funds that were raised by Aaron Panitz for his Bar Mitzvah to help CTVP with their amazing work. He is an inspiration to us,” Gancz said.
“It was amazing to see the work of CTVP,” she concluded. “Liam’s father told us that there is no one who feels their pain more than CTVP.”
