Deputy Inspector Tito Romero, Commanding Officer of the NYPD 71 Precinct, lauded the Jewish residents of Crown Heights for complying with health safety regulations during the first days of Pesach.
Romero and the 71st Community Affairs team wrote in a statement that “all the members of the 71st Precinct know we are all living in some difficult times. It is important we remember our love ones in times like this and we pray for all those we have lost.”
They specified that “We like to take second to specially thank the Jewish community for complying with social distancing and not attending shul services during Passover.”
In the statement sent to COLlive.com last night they wrote: This has been especially difficult during funerals. The community should be specially commended for there social distancing during Rabbi Groner’s funeral. He was a great leader and dear friend of the 71 Pct.”
Rabbi Leibel Groner obm, who served as the Rebbe’s aid and was one of the most prominent Lubavitch figures, passed away before Pesach. His funeral procession drove around Crown Heights and was broadcast on COLlive.com to avoid congregating during the coronavirus.
Romero said, “It is important we continue to make sacrifices to get our community through this. Please continue to social distance, by doing so we are saving lives of our fellow community members.”
I know it’s been difficult, it’s been very difficult for my family. So, I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on the Kiddush Hashem we were all a part of, and a reminder that we are all in this together. Together, be’yachad we will I”yh get through this will little to no more pain and merit to see the revelation of Moshiach tzidkemdu b”va!
Ad mosai!
May we continue having the strength to be an Ohr LaGoyim!
Thank you to all at the 71st pct and to all officers at all precincts for all work you do to keep society safe!
