New York City Sanitation Department’s Brooklyn North has been preparing for Pesach. For the first time, they have placed a bulk container on Kingston Avenue for the benefit of the community. The container will allow space for residents who are unable to place excess trash in front of their homes, because of lack of space or because of the pick-up schedule, will be able to bring them to a central location in the neighborhood.
For today, Tuesday April 16, the container is on Kingston and Empire. Tomorrow, Wednesday April 17, Sanitation will attempt to place it on Kingston closer to Lefferts Ave.
Sanitation has also scheduled extra capacity for the week before the holiday to ensure that all the results of residents’ Passover cleaning can be accommodated. As usual, there will be an extra pick-up on Erev Pesach, Monday, April 22, throughout the neighborhood, to remove all leaven before the holiday starts.
Crown Heights Jewish Community Council thanked Chief Grace Lopez of Brooklyn North for keeping Crown Heights clean all year round and especially before Passover. Brooklyn North covers the part of Central Brooklyn that includes all of Crown Heights, both District 9 and District 8.
