New York State Governor Kathy Hochul will be the guest speaker at an event in Crown Heights on Sunday.
The Governor will speak at the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council Brunch, at 12 pm on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Razag Hall, 739 East New York Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11203.
The honorees include Adrienne Adams – Speaker, New York City Council, Joel Eisdorfer – Senior Advisor to the Mayor, Ingrid Lewis-Martin – Chief Advisor to the Mayor and Isaac Werzberger – Entrepreneur and Philanthropist.
Also receiving honor are the Commanding Officers of NYPD 71st and 77th precincts, Jeremy Nicholson – Volunteer Coordinator for our food pantry during the COVID pandemic, Michael Cohen – Simon Wiesenthal Center Eastern Director, and Avi Lesches – Community Activist.
The awards will be given in the presence of City and State officials and a diverse gathering of Crown Heights residents.
Remarks will be given by special guest, the Governor of the State of New York, Kathy Hochul.
The event will also Celebrate One Crown Heights, a coalition working to bring together members of the African American, Jewish and Caribbean communities to create a more harmonious
atmosphere in Crown Heights and in the City as a whole.

Is she helping us win the fight against our yeshivas? I’m tired of politicians claiming to be friends of ours, coming into Crown Heights for photo ops, and not doing ANYTHING to actually help us when they can!
Will they discuss the new regulations with her? Can we get her to promise to veto any such legislation?

The changes to our education, c”v, are proposed changes to REGULATIONS. As such they cannot be “vetoed” by the governor. The state Board of Education (an unelected group!) either passes these changes of regulations (c”v), or it rejects the proposed regulation changes. A governor can only veto LEGISLATION — LAWS passed by the State Assembly and State Senate — officials we elect, unlike the State Board of Education. This is not a proposed law. … she is not one of the award recipients: only a “guest” making “remarks.”
But you know she’s threatened in the upcoming election for governor, when she’s saying yes to showing up here!
There should be a protest against the bail laws
She is just coming to say a small rah rah speech and eat breakfast. Not sure how everyone is planning to use this opportunity for their grievances and agendas.
And all of our “ askanim “ are sitting around brunching, the actuall issues that face our community, the yeshivas , crime , bail reform , affordable housing , etc….. will be ignored by the political PACs that told u to vote for her … nice
