Nochum Tzvi Potash, a Chabad boy from the Chabad community in the Golders Green neighborhood of London, passed away on Tuesday night, 22 Teves 5774.
He was 8 years old.
A student of the Lubavitch boys school in England’s capital, he complained yesterday that he wasn’t feeling well.
Tuesday morning he was brought to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead where doctors said he was in a life threatening and critical condition. Tehillim was said for him around the world.
His sudden passing was a shock to his family in England, Australia and the United States and to his classmates in London.
His parents are Reb Yosef Yitzchok and Ester Potash, members of the Chabad community and the Heichal Menachem shul in Golders Green.
He is also survived by his younger siblings Menachem Mendel Potash and Shimon Potash.
The grandparents are R’ Ephraim and Toibe Potash of London and R’ Elozor and Reizl Gorelik of Melbourne, Australia.
Details of the levaya to follow.
Baruch dayan haemes.
Reizl Gorelik ~
Along with English back in high school, you also taught me compassion . Some things a student never forgets.
My heart goes out to you & your children upon the loss of a son; an extension of your being that can never be replaced.
May Hashem keep his pure beautiful neshama safe with the angels in heaven !!!.

It takes some thought to say BDE when such a tragic thing happens like this. He was such a gorgeous good young boy, taken from us so suddenly. It really makes us realize how we have to appreciate every second we are alive because the power to give and take life is only in the hand of the One Almighty Creator. My heart goes out to the parents and all the family, May Hashem bless you with only simchas from now on and really we really really need Moshich NOW! Hashem listen to your children cry out in their pain!… Read more »

I know what we’re supposed to say & think, but when something like this happens it’s as if there’s no hope left in the world. A Parent having to go through this – It’s the very opposite of nature!
I pray that Hashem have mercy on all of us who are crying out in pain with you and may the Compassionate One give you the strength and courage to live full and blessed long lives.

Heart breaking news , the potash family is a wonderful family , May Hashem give them all strength at this terribly devastating time
Hashem Enough!
BAROUH’DAYAN AEMET!!!!!!!
I don’t understand how Hashem can let such a horrible thing happen? What did this gorgeous boy or the family do to deserve this? How are they supposed to live with such pain?
I’m devastated with this terrible loss.
May the family have strength to get through this and only know happiness.
Yossi, as an old friend and classmate I can only imagine your pain. May Hashem give you and your wife the strength to carry on. Hamakom Yinachem Eschem Besoch Shar Availay Tziyon Virushlayim
It’s just too much to handle. I can’t.
Poor poor boy, a kid like any other kid, and you snatched him away so cruelly from his loving parents in a day. So hard to believe this is good on any level, gd please at least give these people the type of Herculean strength they’re gonna need to survive this. Yossi and Esther we don’t know each other but we’re all with you in your unthinkable pain.
So sorry to hear the terrible news. Such heartbreak. Nothing to say. Nobody knows what will be the next day in this world.
Shocking news! The grandparents from Australia (my uncle and aunt) were just about to leave on an anniversary trip that their kids bought for them, and they had to cancel and go to England for this instead.
hamokom yenachem eschem besoich shaar aveilei tzion verushalayim!!!

Your teacher
The world is quiet and still, A child taken against his will. The heavens raining tears, A son chosen young in years. A mother’s pain so deep, The world cannot sleep. A father yearning to see His entire family. Hashem, we cannot understand. What is it You were searching for? Prayers were recited abound, Now instead a feeling of emptiness can be found. A family now incomplete, In cities around many weep. Hashem when tragedy strikes, What is Your message? There are no likes. Hashem, our Father, we know You care. Why did this happen? Please the answer share. A… Read more »
