This year, the “chag hachagim” of 19 Kislev falls out on a night when most Americans are eating Turkey and watching college football from their couches.
Needless to say that for most U.S. shluchim, it’s a difficult night to make an event. That’s why this Thanksgiving, renowned Tanya expert, Rabbi Shais Taub, is leaving the States and going north of the border to Canada where they already celebrated Thanksgiving back in October.
The lecture Practical Spirituality: An Overview on Tanya will be hosted by Chabad @ Flamingo in Thornhill, Ontario and broadcast live on Jewish.TV at 8:00pm Eastern.
“The United States’ loss is Canada’s gain,” says Director and spiritual leader of Chabad @ Flamingo, Rabbi Mendel Kaplan.
“We are so excited to be celebrating 19 Kislev with Rabbi Taub and I really hope that the shluchim in the U.S. who would have made events this evening will invite their balabatim to watch the live webcast.”
The webcast presents a unique opportunity to hear Taub’s now famous presentation on the order and flow of Tanya. His presentation last week to a standing-room only crowd in Crown Heights garnered numerous requests for a video recording of the presentation.
Taub became popular for his ability to practically explain what he calls “the program of Tanya” after the success of the Tanya Map from Kehot and the JLI course Soul Maps.
Following his presentation at Chabad @ Flamingo, Taub will be spending Shabbos with the large and thriving anash community in Thornhill where he will be teaching and farbrenging in honor of 19 Kislev.
