A sefer Torah was dedicated by 770’s 7:30 am Minyan, known as the ‘Happy Minyan,’ on Wednesday, marking the 150th birthday of the Rebbe Rashab.
The Torah was sponsored by the members of the 7:15 and 7:30 am minyans in 770.
R’ Sholom Backman, gabbai of the 7:30 am Minyan, led the initiative and raised the funds for this momentous occasion. He was honored with placing the crown on the new Torah.
The writing of the Sefer Torah was followed by hakafos and dancing.
After all the sifrei Torah were returned to the aron hakodesh, a seudas Mitzvah was held, with speakers Rabbi Nachman Twersky and Rabbi Dovid Sholom Pape.
I can appreciate your need of a sefer Torah. Unfortunatly there are not many sifrei Torah in 770. About 17 years a certain person gave them away. 770 needs many sifrei torah shabbos afternoon for all the minyonim for mincha.
Also sifrei Torah have disapeared lately.
pls explain why its called the happy minyan?
Beautifully said, B”H for such a Minyan where davening is such a joy, Sholomke, 770 would not be the same without you
What an asset to the Rebbes Shul
770 is a shule where everyone is welcome no matter what he believes. Unfortunately Maple Street does not do that so many people have left Maple street after being part of the minyan for over 30 years. R’ Sholom thank you for bring extra simcha in 770 and celebrating the Rebbe Rashab’s 150th birthday in an appropriate way.
I thought the happy minyan was at 11:30
Till this past summer I was a regular at the 7:30 minyan, due to a job change I’m now davening earlier.
Contrary to the untrue and derogatory comments of #5, the minyan has normal pace and its all business and was a pleasure davening with them.
To Sholom and all the wonderful Mispalleim enjoy the new Torah and much success
Does 770 look like a stadium?! Letters on ppl’s hats, pins, flags… and on. Common its a shul for heaven sake.. and #13 i dunno if its a joke or sarcasm but its funnt anyways…
Go Rabbi Shimon Herz!!
#5, was that necessary? Even if you’re right—why the lashon hara? Especially just when they’re celebrating a mitzvah!
Some people confuse me…
in 770 we all doven in a shule that has Ahavas Yisroel where chassidim zaynen ayn mishpocho..
shmully tevel i love you bro!!!!!!!
for those of us who work for a living, we unfortunately have to Daven before Netz much of the winter.
look in S’A you are allowed to daven shemona esrei b4 Netz sometimes.
Im happy theres a happy minyan here in crown heitghs. At least someone is spreading some simcha here.
generally i agree & disagree with both of you.the earliest zman to put on tefilin today is 6.28am & yes you are allowed to put on tefilin at that time but hanetz hachamoh which is usually around an hour later or so you are not supposed to daven shmoneh esreh before hanetz hachamoh.i see many people davening shmoneh esreh before hanetz hachamoh but it,s not the right thing to do but you are allowed to put on tefilin & daven until shmoneh esreh before hanetz hachamoh.
You are allowed to start davening by the zman for instance today you one was allowed to start davening Earliest Tallit and Tefillin 6:28 am. Even if to your eye it seems dark it dosent mean the day hasnt already begun.
the reason that the “happy minyan” takes longer is because they take longer talking!
b”h its now quiet in maple shul
It is of course wonderful that a new Sefer Torah is written and a simcha for the shul and its mispallilim. I cannot help however and wonder, why does 770 need another Sefer Torah? Perhaps the plan was to celebrate the completion, and than to give or loan it to a new Shaliach who is starting out, and in dire need of a first (or second) Torah. Can someone confirm or negate this? Mazal Tov to the Happy Minyan.
Nice to see you Rabbi Mishulovin-
Best sofer in Lubavitch!
nice that they daven so early, but these days in NY its still dark until about 7:45 or so how do they daven at 7:30
