Rabbi Shneur and Chanie Feigin have established the Chabad Israel Center in Phoenix, which will be serving the Hebrew-speaking population in Arizona’s largest city.
Rabbi Feigin grew up in the Israeli city of Nes Tziona, where his parents serve as Chabad Shluchim. He said that his welcoming attitude and love towards each Jew was influenced by them.
Since he was a child, he dreamed of one day establishing a Chabad Center to fulfill the mandate of the Rebbe of doing “our part to change the world for the better and accept every Jew unconditionally.”
He spent his teenage years studying in Israel and concluded his rabbinical studies at the Central Chabad Yeshiva in Brooklyn, New York. As a rabbinic intern, he led Jewish community events for Israelis in Thailand, Peru, Lithuania, Frankfurt – Germany, Guatemala, and the United States.
In 2009, he married his wife Chanie (nee Browd). Born in Queens, NY, she spent her formative years in Crown Heights, and she studied at the Bnos Menachem elementary and high school and graduated with honors in 2007. She completed a year of advanced Judaic studies in Tzfas, Israel, and spent her summers leading day camps in New York and New Jersey.
Together, Rabbi and Mrs. Feigin will be organizing activities for Hebrew speakers in Phoenix, both individuals and families.
They were appointed by Arizona’s Head Shliach Rabbi Zalman Levertov, joining a growing number of Shluchim who are located around the Grand Canyon State, and the expanding community institutions in Phoenix.
The Feigins, who have three children – Mendel (12), Chaya Esther (3) and Avremel (1) – said they are excited about the unique opportunity and committed to doing their part in creating a space where every Jew is truly family.
