Rabbi Chaim and Raizel Groner (nee Cohen), and their baby Eliyahu, will be moving on Shlichus to establish Chabad of Elk Grove, California.
Elk Grove is a city in Northern California’s Sacramento County, located just south of the state capital of Sacramento.
There is currently no Jewish infrastructure in the city, and the Groners will be founding Chabad of Elk Grove to create a warm and welcoming community for all, regardless of background or level of commitment, they said.
Elk Grove was named the nation’s fastest-growing city, and is home to an award-winning school district. The Groners will create Jewish programming for Shabbos, holidays and more, with a special focus on young families.
Rabbi Chaim and Raizel both grew up on Shlichus; Chaim in Melbourne, Australia, and Raizel in nearby Sacramento, CA. The two have been involved in outreach since their youth, and have run Jewish events and programs around the world.
The Groners were appointed by Rabbi Shlomo Cunin, head Shliach of the West Coast, and Rabbi Mendy Cohen, Shliach to Sacramento.
