The city of Carlsbad is growing beach town in Southern California. The city was named for Carlsbad, Czechoslovakia because of the spring baths that are similar to the waters there. These baths hold a special connection to Lubavitch, as both the Tzemach Tzedek and the Rebbe Maharash used to go to Carlsbad, Czechoslovakia to bathe in its healing waters.
Now, Rabbi Yossi and Muka Rodal (nee Eilfort) hope to continue the connection to spirituality by opening a Chabad Center near the old Carlsbad Village, the location of these healing springs.
The Rodals together with their son Dovid, will be moving to Carlsbad, California before the start of the new school year and High Holidays.
The Rodals will be moving to North Carlsbad to service the young Jewish community there. Yossi and Muka both grew up on Shlichus, (Yossi in Milan, Italy and Muka in California) and have developed a passion and excitement for hafotzas hamaayonos and the Rebbe’s Mivtzoyim.
Rabbi Yossi hopes to use his talent for music to connect with the local Jewish teens in the area. The couple also hopes to create strong bonds with the seniors in the community.
The northern neighborhood has long been served by the Chabad Shluchim in La Costa, but due to the increasing Jewish population, the Rodals will be filling a need for classes, programs, and services specially geared to the area.
The young couple has said that they look forward to moving on the Rebbe’s Shlichus and hope that they can change a city with a largely unaffiliated Jewish population to a thriving and lively, proud Jewish community.
They will be working under the direction of Rabbi Yeruchem and Nechama Eilfort with the blessings of Rabbi Yona Fradkin, regional director of Chabad in S. Diego County, and under the auspices of Rabbi Shlomo Cunin, Director of Chabad in California.
Rabbi and Mrs. Rodal are currently looking for investors to partner with them in establishing this new Chabad institution. Those who would like to make a monthly contribution, or a one time gift, are encouraged to click here.
