New Shluchim Announced on Yud Aleph Nissan

As global Jewry unites to celebrate 121 years since the birth of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Chabad Lubavitch of Utah is celebrating another huge milestone of growth with the hiring of another full-time couple joining the team in Salt Lake City.

Rabbi Moshe and Sarahle Nigri, together with their son Mendel, have been appointed as Directors of Youth and Family Programming at Chabad Lubavitch of Utah. They will be tasked with the direction of Chai Hebrew School, the launch of CKids Salt Lake City (a series of child-friendly events around the Jewish calendar, teaching timeless Jewish ideas through art, music and science), the opening of CTeen Salt Lake City (the local branch of the world’s largest and fastest-growing Jewish teen movement), and create a more full time presence for Chabad activities on the college campuses across the Wasatch Front. The Nigris were appointed by Rabbi Benny and Sharonne Zippel, founders and Executive Directors of Chabad Lubavitch of Utah.

“With Salt Lake City continuing to rank among the youngest cities in the USA year after year, we are honored to add Rabbi Moshe and Sarahle to our rapidly growing and vibrant Chabad House,” said Rabbi Benny Zippel. “We look forward to continuing to expand and accelerate our activities for the benefit of Salt Lake City’s tremendous Jewish community.”

Rabbi Moshe Nigri was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and was educated in Chabad Yeshivas in the United States, France and Israel. He was ordained as a Rabbi at the Central Chabad Yeshiva in Brooklyn, New York. He has been a teacher and mentor to children and students across the globe, and is renowned for his ability to distill the most profound ideas into the simplest of points.

Mrs. Sarahle Nigri was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was educated at the Lubavitch Girls High School in Chicago and Machon Shoshanat Yerushalayim Teachers Seminary in Jerusalem. She has spent years working with children and young adults in schools and camps across the United States.

“As we find ourselves right in the middle of a year of Hakhel (gathering the Jewish people), we’re excited to continue to provide opportunities for our community to gather together, and engage with the beauty of their Heritage, especially our youth”, said Rabbi Moshe Nigri. “Sarahle, Mendel and I can’t wait to get to Salt Lake City, and hit the ground running!”

The Nigris become the 6th full time couple representing Chabad across the State of Utah, and the third in Salt Lake City. They join Rabbi Benny and Sharonne Zippel, and Rabbi Avremi and Sheina Zippel, Directors of Development, who will continue to direct Young Jewish Professionals, the Jewish Preschool of the Arts and Tamim Academy SLC, Camp Gan Israel and the Yalla Kosher Food Truck.
