Chabad Girls Academy of Crown Heights has announced the appointment of an experienced educator to their team, as Mrs. Gavriella Aber has signed on as their new Principal.
Mrs. Aber and her husband served as Shluchim in Sydney, Australia in 1988, where she taught multiple grade levels, developed curriculum and held a variety of management roles in schools. She has also assisted several schools as an Educational Consultant.
In her new role as combined Principal and Curriculum Director, Mrs. Aber will guide teachers and support them throughout the year.
“When teachers are supported, they can nurture the students,” says the school’s founder Mrs. Devorah Leah Angyalfi. “With the students as her main concern, a higher quality of education in all realms will be achieved.”
She will be applying the following principles in CGA this coming year:
• Each student is a unique individual whose attributes and needs should be nurtured and accommodated in the harmony of the group coming into the building each day;
• Principal and staff will get to know each student well and work together to achieve the best results in educating her in each subject as well as guiding her about herself so she can blossom;
• Student conflict is a call for guidance in interpersonal skills which we believe is the school’s job to provide;
• Teamwork is the best (and most enjoyable) way to get things done well – whether among staff or in a classroom;
• Sudents grow most when learning is engaging and they are taught to self assess;
• When home is in alignment with school, the students absorb their learning more readily.
CGA is expanding this year so that instead of combined classes, each class from fifth to eighth grade will have its own separate classroom.
CGA staff have just returned from the unbelievable two day Chinuch conference in Stamford, Connecticut organized by the Menachem Education Foundation. The teachers gained new tools and creative ideas, classroom management techniques and Chumash and reading skills. The conference is a great chance to network with educators from other schools. Our staff is looking forward to implementing their ideas!
There is a lot to look forward to this fall at CGA. There are currently a few more slots available. Please email [email protected] or call 718-484-9021.
