Julia Gillard has been sworn in as Australia’s first female prime minister after a surprise Labor Party leadership ballot ousted Kevin Rudd.
Ms. Gillard, who was deputy prime minister before the surprise Wednesday night challenge to Mr. Rudd, stood unopposed at a vote of the Labor Party’s 112 members of parliament.
She said the government had been losing its way and promised to make it strong for this year’s general election.
Gillard is said to be a friend of the Chabad Lubavitch community of New South Wales, Australia’s most populous state.
She has visited in Sydney’s Yeshiva Centre – Chabad Headquarters of NSW under the leadership of Head Shliach Rabbi Pinchus Feldman.
In addition she has also visited Our Big Kitchen, a community kitchen run by individuals who meet regularly to cook healthy and nutritious meals for the needy.
Rabbi Dovid Slavin, director of the soup kitchen, said the prime minister is a friend of Israel, who has spoken publicly about her support for the country. “We wish her the traditional Jewish blessing of “Mazal Tov,” and much success in making Australia a good place for all Australians,” he said.
keep doing your amazing work!!
doesnt mean they will stand for justice and hashem in a time of trial
John Howard was a real friend of the Jews. He was a friend of America and a friend of Israel. The Labor government has not been friendly to America or to Israel. Tony Abbott will make a great Prime Minister for Australia and for the world.
Be wary of those in power, for they befriend a person only for their own benefit; they seem to be friends when it is to their advantage, but they do not stand by a man in his hour of need.
she is a leftist arab lover so she needs to go now
israel will find no support in her
The Left in Australia is becomeing more anti-Israel. Julia’s staments in support of Israel is a camoflage of what the the real sentiment is in the Labour party. Just look at Rudd. At first he was frendly to Israel but in the last couple of months he kicked out an Israli diplomat for the Dubai passpoert fiasco, and was quick to condemn Israel and the blockade follwing the flotila. Don’t trust labour to support Israel in difficult times.
very nice may thay have alot of hatzlacha
