Rabbi Zalmen Drizin of Chabad of Kings Highway gave the opening remarks at the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening for the new Renaissance Express restaurant, located at 1425 Kings Highway.
With sharing inspiring commentary on elevating food, Rabbi Drizin set the scene for an inspiring event to follow. The event, attended by over 150 people, launched a gourmet food venue and recognized those who serve to better the community.
Renaissance Express honored exemplary individuals with Namesake Menu items to thank them for their efforts in serving the community. This includes New York City Councilman Chaim Deutsch (L’Chaim Pizza); the Honorable Gina Levy Abadi (Kales of Justice); Precinct 61 of the NYPD (The Six One Penne a la Pasta); Ruth Gruener, Holocaust Survivor and speaker for Project Witness (Ruth’s Favorite Coffee); My Extended Family (The ‘My Extended Family’ Platter) and Linda Sadacka, of Moms on A Mitzvah (Mom’s Malibu Mitzvah Pudding).
Theresa Scavo, Chair of Community Board 15, participated on behalf of honoree ‘My Extended Family’. Also at the event were both District Leaders Ari Kagan and Margarita Kagan.
Community Advocate Amber Adler who acts as a community liaison for the restaurateur family, announced that they are developing a unique loyalty card program. The program is set to offer both purchase incentives and discounts to benefit local workers, area residents and those whom commute to the area. This program is set to be a game changer in an area starved for lunch venues where they can affordably visit regularly.
The Renaissance Express menu features gourmet varieties of pasta, calzones, salads, platters and more. They exclusively sell illy Coffee. Kosher Supervision is by Rabbi Yitzchak Gornish.
Additionally, Renaissance Café offers a “lunch to go” option, available as early as 6am. This way, people heading to the city are able to grab lunch to take with them on their commute. This allows people to shop local and save money, as they avoid paying the higher prices in the city. The restaurant’s location, less than a block away from the Kings Highway Stop on the B/Q trains puts them in a prime location for attracting commuters.
Renaissance Express is located at 1425 Kings Highway (Corner of East 15th Street), Brooklyn, NY 11229.
