NYPD Community Affairs Bureau Captain Richard Taylor visited Crown Heights on Thursday.
Captain Taylor was greeted by Devorah Halberstam, NYPD Hon. Commissioner for community safety and clergy liaison for the 71st pct.
They were joined by Chanina Sperlin of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council.
Taylor walked down Kingston Avenue and spoke to local residents while he distributed masks and stressed the importance of social distancing.
“People were glad to see a member of the NYPD visiting our neighborhood especially during these difficult times,” Halberstam told COLlive. “He was thanked by many residents for the masks that he distributed, even being stopped by motorists driving by for one.”
Captain Taylor, an Orthodox Jew, was transferred last week from Manhattan South Special Investigations to the Community Affairs Bureau to assist with the many issues facing the Jewish community throughout New York City.
He has served in various precincts in the NYPD, including serving in the Community Affairs Bureau while a Sergeant.
Welcome and much success, Captain Ritche Taylor!
