“I am deeply concerned about my sister who is struggling with suicidal thoughts.”
“My parents are skeptical about therapy, but I am in desperate need of assistance. They are unaware of the challenges I am facing.”
“Since my broken engagement, I have found it difficult to get out of bed.”
In the five years since its inception, Neshamos has received numerous global inquiries from individuals seeking therapists, referrals, or simply a compassionate listener to share their struggles. However, a recurring and poignant question has always surfaced – “Can you assist me in covering the costs of therapy?” This year with Hashems help, our answer is Yes!
Applications are now open for a new fund designed to financially support individuals in our community seeking therapy. Yerucham’s Legacy Fund, launched by Neshamos in memory of Yerucham Mordechai Katz O”bm, aims to address this pressing need.
“Yerucham was a constant presence, always ready to help,” shares Chaviva New, Yerucham’s sister and the program coordinator of Neshamos. Yerucham, who passed away from lung cancer at the age of 38, was a cherished husband and father renowned for his compassionate nature.
In commemoration of Yerucham’s first yahrzeit, the community recently joined forces, raising nearly $80,000 for the therapy fund. A BIG Thank you to Koshertown for partnering with us on this journey, and recognizing how vital this need is.
Yerucham’s Legacy Fund will provide grants to individuals and families struggling to afford therapy. These grants will cover the expenses of sessions with therapists .
“We recognize the financial challenges associated with therapy and are committed to ensuring accessibility for all those in need,” says another staff member. “It is our fervent hope that this fund will enable individuals to access the mental health care necessary for leading fulfilling and healthy lives.”
“The value that we operate by is that Mental and Emotional Health is an accessible, vital and center point of our community. It’s not just a privilege and not just for crisis,” asserts Moshe Chanin.
