2 black teenagers attempted to rob a Lubavitch man’s cell phone in broad daylight on Kingston Avenue, the main shopping street of the Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn.
The incident occurred at approximately 3 pm on Monday in front of the barber shop at 355 Kingston Avenue near Carroll Street.
The victim was able to grab his cell phone back from the perpetrator, and together with another Jewish man who witnessed the incident, chased the muggers, who fled up Carroll Street towards Albany Avenue.
None were injured in the incident.
A police canvass was immediately conducted with both the witness and the victim, but the perps were not caught.
There is some video of the incident, COLlive was told.
The NYPD 71st Precinct say they will be moving additional resources into the area to increase the security.
The precinct recommended that members of the community try not to use cell phones out in public and instead walk into a store or vestibule to use the phone.
