Mrs. Pola Slavin, a matriarch of a large Chabad family, passed away on Thursday, 17 Tishrei, Chol Hamoed Sukkos 5782.
Mrs. Slavin (nee Zakon) was born in the Soviet Union in the 1920s. She was married to Rabbi Dr. Yosef Chaim Slavin obm who headed the Bais Rivka in Montreal.
After the passing of her husband early and tragically in 1972, she lived a life of quiet determination and was the proud matriarch of a large and loving family.
She is survived by her children, Bronya Shaffer – Crown Heights, Michoel Slavin – Crown Heights, Esti Frimerman – Crown Heights, Feige Hazdan – Johannesburg, Ady Singer – Crown Heights and Chany Gniwisch – Montreal, Canada.
The Levaya will take place today, leaving Shmorei Hadas in Boro Park at 2:00 pm and passing by 770 at 3:00 pm, burial at Montefiore Cemetery at 3:45 pm.
Shivah will take place at 711 Montgomery st.

I met Mrs. Slavin shortly after moving to CH many years ago. I would visit her daughter who lived upstairs from her, and to whom I became very connected; she was my role model to this very day.
