Mrs. Elaine Brown, beloved mother and grandmother of a Chabad family who served as the Mikvah lady in Cleveland for many years, passed away on Monday, 3 Adar I, 5784.
Elaine was the daughter of Jack and Sarah Harris, and married Phil (Fishel) Brown, both of whom were born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Brown family was inspired by the Kazens, who were the Rebbe’s shluchim in Cleveland, to embrace a frum and chassidishe lifestyle.
Through the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Brochos and nissim they merited to have and raise a beautiful family.
The Brown family was instrumental in building the first Chabad Mikveh in Cleveland, in memory of their 3 children who were tragically killed in a car accident in 1981.
Elaine dedicated her time by being the Mikveh lady for many years. Elaine was a true aishes chayil and a motherly presence to the entire community of Cleveland, where she had an open home and all were welcome.
She is survived by her children Sossie Scheinfeld – Crown Heights, Dena Brown – Cleveland, Ohio, Rena Kesten – Queens, NY, Mordechai Brown – Pittsburgh, PA, Dovie Brown – Hillside, NJ and Raphi Brown – Cleveland, Ohio.
She is also survived by her sister Lynda Gorde of Tucson, Arizona.
The Levaya will be held graveside at Bet Olam cemetery 25796 Chagrin Blvd., Beachwood, OH at 10:30 AM Tuesday.
Shiva:
Sossie will be sitting shiva starting Thursday in Crown Heights.

Motzei Shabbos until 9
Sunday 10-2 and 6-9
Dovie will be sitting in Cleveland.
Mordechai will be sitting in Pittsburgh starting Thursday.

She was the most loving person along her husband and kids their home was a true home of love .and I learned what a loving home was thrue their home, and it was extremely helpful in my life.

I always admired her strength and determination to attend all family gatherings!!! She worked through her pain to be present at all simcha’s…I admired her… she will be deeply missed….
