Few people know the extent of Mr. Backer tzedaka. He not only helped financially. He got involved personally. Some times as discreet as possible.

Although I only saw Reb Yudel very infrequently in recent years, we are very saddened at this news. Our families go back for decades. We grew up together and spent many summers together in the Catskills. His late mother Anya o”h and mine were best friends. Yihei zichroi boruch!
