Spring must be around the corner. It’s time to set the clocks forward for daylight saving time.
At 2 a.m. local time Sunday, daylight saving time arrives with the promise of many months ahead with an extra hour of evening light.
You lose an hour of sleep, but make sure to turn the clock ahead — spring forward — before heading to bed Saturday night to avoid the panic of a late rise.
It’s also a good time to put new batteries in warning devices such as smoke detectors and hazard warning radios.
Some places don’t observe daylight saving time. Those include Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.
Can we please organize against this silly idea of having daylight savings time. No reason for it in secular world and for sure is not helpful for halachic times for any jewish family. Every year, nothing helpful about this change. really hope they abolish it.
There’s been talk with great controversies generally & in the frum neighborhoods.
Generally you’re correct. Beside for many arguments against stopping it (for example daylight will come at 7:30-8:00AM, meaning children will be going to school in the dark, not the best idea)
But, for working men needing to be in the office at 8:30-9AM, will make Shachris a major issue, not being able to start davening before 7:30…….
So for now it’s here to stay!
You’re talking about year-round daylight savings time; that’s in fact not good for all the reasons you mentioned. The poster above you was talking about having standard time all year round, which would be very good indeed.
In fact they were trying to abolish Standard time …
