The son of R’ Avraham Aaron Rubashkin, who passed away last week of coronavirus, is shedding light on how patients of Coronavirus are being treated at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
The son, R’ Moshe Rubashkin, a businessman and a community activist in Crown Heights, spoke about the ordeal in an interview with COLlive.com on Monday.
He also said that his family “begged” that his father, who was 92 when he passed, should take vitamin C – which is said to help – but “Maimonides wouldn’t let it in.”
His mother, Rivkah, has since been released from the hospital, now not been properly treated either, he said.
“She came out like from the concentration camps,” he accused, saying that patients in the hospital were “not changed, not fed, and were dehydrated.”
He recommended that those who have relatives in the hospitals due to coronavirus should bring their loved ones home and provide treatment for them on their own.
VIDEO:
Maimonides normally has a capacity of 711 beds, with about 10 percent of them devoted to critical care, Dr. Patrick Borgen, chairman of its Department of Surgery, recently told the New York Post.
Since the coronavirus struck New York City — which quickly became the epicenter of the outbreak in the US — the Borough Park hospital has added about 200 more beds, and 250 are now filled with seriously sick patients, Borgen said.
COLlive.com reached out to the press office of Maimonides hospital for comment.
I’m so glad to hear someone finally speak up!! It’s inexcusable
What Reb Moshe is saying is a remarkable charge against a hospital and it shouldn’t be ignored. However, there are some issues that must be addressed:
There are many patients who had corona and recovered from the virus at maimonides, have any of those patients spoken out about neglect?
Aren’t there ANY doctors or nurses who care to lookout for the patients wellbeing?
There are many frum nurses who have gone above and beyond their call of duty at the hospital. The management is to blame. They are not giving enough resources and help. They are neglecting care .Hatzolah in bp and flatbush are taking pt to the city non stop because of this.
This is a Jewish hospital?????
Hashem Yishmor!!!!
How can they treat people like garbage???
PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS RABBI DR. BERNHARD ROSENBERG TRYING TO SAVE LIVES I just heard some very disturbing information. Apparently, Hatzolah doesn’t even want to take people to Maimonides Hospital because they’re not cleaning out vents and literally letting people choke to death and die. A nurse said that she has seen it first hand and that the numbers of deaths amongst Jewish people specifically ultra orthodox are happening there because they’re literally ignoring them and not cleaning the vents. I WILL POST Understaffed hospitals added to the risk of never reviving once on a ventilator = increased deaths. Simple… Read more »
That is not the only hospital that is doing that
Its war zone
My grandfather is in the hospital and off of a respirator and he still cant see anyone and he was given permission to speak to one person a few days ago and that’s it
Unfortunately not everyone can afford to provide treatment for their loved ones at home
you can get hydration by a Hatzoloh paramedic and oxygen with much TLC
Refuah Shileimoh to all
There’s no good evidence that Vitamin C works even against the cold. There’s certainly no reason to think it would work against Coronavirus. So I’m with Maimonides on that point, but that doesn’t excuse the other problems.
If someone is dying, and nearby hospitals have more success with something the family is begging for, u try it!! U don’t say no evidence cuz trying is better than dying!!
This post is too upsetting.
Hashem decides how and when a a
person will pass away but when human neglect or disregard is part of it, that is UNFORGIVABLE
💯 %
Only G-d has the last word on who lives or dies
Doctors have no right to take it upon themselves to decide that it’s a patients right to demand a specific treatment, even if experimental, when the hospital knows of no good treatment otherwise
Nobody says Vitamin C is a cure to corona. It is a well known fact that when flu symptoms show the body is very much weakened and loses vitamin C and if you replace it with supplements you strengthen the body and give it a better chance to fight back. This is so absurd they would not allow something so simple as Vitamin C. Please dont open your mouth if you dont know what youre talking about… hob rachmonus !!!
You should be ashamed of this comment! I don’t doubt for a second that if a loved one of your would fall ill (R”l), you would search the world for medications and treatments that are used elsewhere. That is what loving relatives do (just in case you didn’t know). And the fact that a hospital would deny a family the right for a man who would otherwise die a simple vitamin (that’s right – a vitamin; not a serious drug that can cause severe complications, but a simple vitamin which is virtually risk free) is reprehensible and a basic violation… Read more »
Firstly, It certainly cant hurt to try and its not true thay 85 is not in their pharmacy. Its just bureaucracy. All hospitals can get IVC!
But there are also studies that show its efficacy.
To Dr Linus Pauling for his research in using Vitamin C against viruses – I don’t know if you consider that “good evidence” but if it doesn’t harm and may actually heal then why wouldn’t you try it ??
This is not a time for clinical trials. People are dying, they either make it or they don’t. If there is a chance that something can save them, you go for it. But C happens to be quite safe. Doctors have egos and that is the only reason they won’t let it in. Sadly.
I had a severe bacterial infection and was in dying shape, hospital couldn’t help me. Took IV C for a month, it saved my life. I know of at least 20 people who’s life was saved by C IV
Pauling’s Nobel was in Chemistry, not Medicine. It was for his research into the nature of chemical bonds, and had nothing whatsoever to do with his Vitamin C mishugaas. In fact he didn’t even start on that until more than 10 years after he got the Nobel. His research on Vitamin C went nowhere, it produced no useful results; but it was a better use of his time than his communist agitation, so there is that. The fact is that there is not a shred of evidence that megadoses of Vitamin C help with colds, or cancer, or any other… Read more »
You are missing the point my friend. No one cares if vitamin c works or not, the point is that a yid is in pain, the hospital staff are nasty, vzehu.
So true!
There has been abundance of studies and work done since Pauling did his initial work. Many doctors who studied the IV C since then, well published. Bigpharma always silence it. You can bury your head in sand if that makes you feel good.
None of which have substantiated Pauling’s wild claims. Despite all those studies nobody has yet found evidence that megadoses of vitamin C do any good.
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1954 was awarded to Linus Carl Pauling “for his research into the nature of the chemical bond and its application to the elucidation of the structure of complex substances.
Better hospitals than maimonides with lower mortality rates are using iv vitamin c, and zinc
Look at the science, not the propaganda:

So much heart ache so much pain….No one should be completely alone in the hospital ever how much more so now.
And the government is covering it by saying they are hero’s. Most people who did did not have to die
Many many families have horror stories from hospitals absolute negligence of patients. Intubating unnecessarily, no oxygen, leaving patients to die. Lowering oxygen levels until patient is considered “gone.”
TAKE ACHRAYUS. Ask for medical records. Be your own advocate. Do not go to hospital unless absolutely necessary.
This is part of the tragedy it’s no secret, the doctors nurses and everyone is saying it, The hospitals are just not equipped to handle this and it is chaos. Moshiach is truly the only solution Right now.
The hospital systems are being stretched. Nurses and drs are working under UNBEARABLE circumstances. They are trying the best they can but unfortunately when you have limited resources some things go by the way side.
Reb Moshe HaTzadik. I just listen for 28 minutes. Your story is appalling dispicable nauseating. I cried with you throughout. I want to hug and kiss you now. Reb Moshe you must go after those murderers, they killed your holy father and almost killed your teire Mother. I’m so so sorry his happened. BD”E Hamokom Yenachem Eschem….. Maimonides is supposed to be a Jewish hospital. A community hospital. A place were we know we can go and be respected and honored. A place where we know every patient is taking care of like family. Your parents were sent to the… Read more »
Crazy!
what can be done?
So sorry you went though this.
Thank you for your words
There is no reason for all these people to die .
The hospital is pulling the plug on all these patients .
No family around to see
I don’t ever write comments on col or anywhere else but this time I can’t hold myself back. Dvarim hayotsim myn halev nichnasim el halev. I have never felt words said more than here and now. I was more affected listening to Moshe Rubashkin for this 30 minutes than all of the hundreds of hours I listened to Mashpiim by fabrengens and magidei shiurim. Thanks Moshe Rubashkin for speaking up at this hard time. We love you we’re with you and feel your pain.
My heart goes out to the holy Rubashkin family and my tears are flowing as I see this video. May Hashem comfort you
I’ve used these 2 Homeopathic remedies and had other people use them as well.
Nux vomica- for nausea stomach cramps dizziness….
pulsatilla -cough sore throat loss of taste and smell
Homeopathy is where an ingredient is watered down to the point that there is literally nothing left of the original ingredient. Homeopathy doesn’t work and there isn’t even any mechanism by which it can work.
This policy of no family allowed will one day go down in history as a tragic mistake and nasty decision from the medical administration. This unethical, against halachah and possibly in violation of constitutional rights. We don’t allow someone to be neglected and easily die R”l because of a maybe that someone else could get sick, espically if they’re willing to wear protective gear and take the risk. The Rabbonim must speak up. This is a mass violation of Halacha. The medical community who are understaffed and overwhelmed are enforcing this policy in their favor ahainst the interest of the… Read more »
There’s isn’t even enough protective equipment for people providing medical care, let alone people who are there to visit.
Not to mention, even if one is willing to take the risk for oneself, they would be putting others at risk since it can take up to 2 weeks for symptoms to show in cases of infection. Also, maybe they’re willing to take the risk but what if they get seriously ill? Now they’re in the hospital too, hoping there are enough ventilators to go around.
These Hospitals are all about money. If someone is older they could not care less. I watched a relative of mine dye, with the hospital saying well its an older person. On top of that, well meaning family members who try to do all the right things, follow the advice of these hospitals who DO NOT HAVE the best interest of the patient in mined. These hospitals also don’t have our values that every second of life is priceless. Older people can lose hope and dye from that to in these hospitals. Sometimes what’s needed is the person to be… Read more »
Why dont the community askanim do something?
You are a hero for speaking up … about time I warned my family never ever to bring my mother there it is not a hospital !
Thank u for speaking up. I’ve seen that treatment at Maimonides personally and its geshreklach. Real change is needed to save lives. Thank u for speaking up.
Years ago the Klausenberg Rebbe forbade his chassidim from ever going into Maimonides hospital.
Till this day they go elsewhere.
Go At your own risk!!
I’m saddened by and mourn the loss of R’ AA’ Rubashkin. I am pained by his son’s words and pain and frustration and hope he heals from his loss soon enough. I’m sure Maimonides Hospital is making mistakes in this unprecedented health and humanitarian crisis. BUT, this hospital, as others, are doing their best and more. Which reader here is prepared to run a hospital? Be a doctor or nurse? Make decisions that can cause life or otherwise on countless other people, daily? We put people on pedestals and then vilify them – because it’s easier to do so, than… Read more »
The US is the only Western country without universal healthcare.
The main goal of the insurance/healthcare system in the US is to make money. Not to save lives.
Sure there are exceptions. But in general the main priority is to make a profit.
Thankfully, in most Western countries the healthcare system is largely not for profit and the priority is saving lives, not profit.
They have “universal” healthcare but they are choosing who gets to live or not
Rubashkin in this video documents many inexcusable occurrences, it’s not just about visitation:
1. They didn’t allow them to try experimental medications
2. They didn’t allow the patient to be discharged while
3. Completely neglecting the patient in every sort of way
There is no excuse for any hospital to have this behavior
so so sad
and PAs working in these hospitals. Has anyone posting these comments considered their position? Has anyone actually spoken to any medical person working in incomprehensible conditions to hear what they do? There are not enough necessary protective gear available for the doctors and nurses who are actually trying to save lives – now you want to bring in untold numbers of visitors with whatever they’re carrying….either without protective gear, or taking protective gear from the medical workers?
Stop screaming nonsense here, and start screaming responsibility at our government!!!
Everyone should be wearing a homemade mask anyways.
The fact that phone calls are not being returned is quite scary.
The fact that you can’t get anything accomplished is quite scary.
For profit hospitals don’t have the patients as their top priority. Profit is their top priority.
The negligence has nothing to do with how overwhelmed they are now. They have always been nasty to the patients. I have seen with my own eyes how they treated my child. The patients advocate himself said they are anti-semites and will call Child Services against me if I dare speak out against them.
That sounds really unfortunate. In my local hospital, not in NY, you can always write a letter to the hospital to describe your experience. They appreciate feedback, especially if it was a bad experience. Consider writing and calling the appropriate department in the hospital.
You can do more. The Askonim of the community can get up and make sure that the Jewish Chaplain and a few assistants are going around to make sure someone is okay. Massive media articles need to be written to give these idiots bad publicity. Then something will be done. If someone looks “Chasidish@ they are not interested in helping the patient live bc they “started Carona”. They don’t push for the elderly bc it is a “waste”. Enough there needs to be a system of checks and balances. People in our communities are dying unnecessarily.
About time someone take that initiative
Other Frum Neighborhoods (Flatbush and i think others as well) are doing this already, They had a emergency fundraiser last week, raised almost a million dollars from people in their community, And they purchased oxygen machines as well as other machines that help people with breathing, and for people that have minor breathing problems from Covid-19 instead of going to the hospital, which really every hospital is so overpacked with patients now that there is not enough room, staff & equitment to treat anyone good, and unfortunaly by many hospitals because there are to many patients now, many people condition… Read more »
I’m sorry to hear about the tragic passing of your father. I can relate in regards to hospital negligence. Throughout several hospitalizations, I experienced too many errors. Many I wouldn’t want to share… One time, nurse entered wrong rate for medication on IV pump causing hyperglycemia. A nurse trying too hard to get blood from veins without using a tourniquet, leading to cellulitis. My lungs full of fluid after surgery yet I had to demand a chest xray to prove the pain I had and then finally received treatment. After these experiences, returning home is my Geulah. May we be… Read more »
Besides for Vitamin C which a lot of Doctors said are good at helping people that have Corona and even better and preventing infection from Corona,
Many Doctors are saying that Vitiman Zinc as well is extremely good for preventing & treating Corona,
In short Everyone (Old & Young) should be taking Every day Vitamin C & Zinc to try to prevent & minimize corona infection (EVEN if you already had Corona)
We sent my father to Columbia and he was fed and taken care of all the time. The nursed helped us when we tried to get information and reach him. B”h came home stronger. There are better hospitals out there, don’t send to Maimonides.
About 20 years ago I had a simple procedure.while i was very happy with the surgeon(who was a non religious jew dr. Lehman)i was disappointed with the male nurses rolling me into the surgery room. They were very rude and laughed at me when i asked them not to roll my cot fast like I was an animal.A few boxes on the bed fell on me and they laughed.im not surprised.its a human less hospital.hope they get sued.
Im chas vsholom vchas vsholom adayin lo bo, it’s the responsibility of everyone who can to start suing them.
the rabashkin family should have there own family doctor that is in synch and connected to the best hospitals in NYC, and around the world in case of a emergency i am actually surprised they dont have one now is the time for them to get one in NYC you need a voice and a mentor in NYC in the medical field ( any large family in chabad should have this as well its a must !)
The NYC hospitals have been notorious for killing the elderly. Saw it myself with a man in his 90s who went into NY Presbyterian. They didn’t tell him that his creatin was sky high and that dialysis could save. Then when it was so clear that he had kidney failure (he had almost a team around him so they couldn’t just leave him to their devices) they put dialysis but said that an IV would be a risk and that dialysis was like food. It took days of begging till they put a nose tube in, by which time it… Read more »
So sad to hear.
Unfortunately, Maimonides has a long history of horror stories.
They needs a federal investigation.
Its so sad that jewish people have to die bcuz of nurse neglect from starving/ dehydration and not even from the virus itself.
It’s crazy how much they are taking advantage of the situation to kill them.its so Cruel not let a patient take vitamin c which does help I believe strongly!!!.what are these hospitals?gettos??!!
I wish moshiach comes this pesach and the truth comes out and no more to cruelty and suffering.its not justice to these patients and to their family.how can people have such cold blood??!! Hashem help!!!
two commenters made a very good point – lets interview a number of patient that made it out
demand a copy of med records to see wat was done when
My elderly gramma used to say, ”When we were in the concentration camps in Europe, we knew that if you went to the hospital you’d not come back. Few people came out alive from the hospital”. It’s as true nowadays as it was back then.
This is not news, Maimonides is known for killing patients, killing them passively and killing them actively. It’s no secret. Thousands of stories from Boro Parkers who’ve witnessed their loved ones being killed at Maimonides. This is an on-going practice, nothing new.
