What Reb Moshe is saying is a remarkable charge against a hospital and it shouldn’t be ignored. However, there are some issues that must be addressed:

There are many patients who had corona and recovered from the virus at maimonides, have any of those patients spoken out about neglect?

Aren’t there ANY doctors or nurses who care to lookout for the patients wellbeing?

There are many frum nurses who have gone above and beyond their call of duty at the hospital. The management is to blame. They are not giving enough resources and help. They are neglecting care .Hatzolah in bp and flatbush are taking pt to the city non stop because of this.

PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS RABBI DR. BERNHARD ROSENBERG TRYING TO SAVE LIVES I just heard some very disturbing information. Apparently, Hatzolah doesn’t even want to take people to Maimonides Hospital because they’re not cleaning out vents and literally letting people choke to death and die. A nurse said that she has seen it first hand and that the numbers of deaths amongst Jewish people specifically ultra orthodox are happening there because they’re literally ignoring them and not cleaning the vents. I WILL POST Understaffed hospitals added to the risk of never reviving once on a ventilator = increased deaths. Simple… Read more »

No evidence for Vitamin C
April 6, 2020 3:24 pm

There’s no good evidence that Vitamin C works even against the cold. There’s certainly no reason to think it would work against Coronavirus. So I’m with Maimonides on that point, but that doesn’t excuse the other problems.

If someone is dying, and nearby hospitals have more success with something the family is begging for, u try it!! U don’t say no evidence cuz trying is better than dying!!

This post is too upsetting.

Hashem decides how and when a a

Vitamin C Works??

Nobody says Vitamin C is a cure to corona. It is a well known fact that when flu symptoms show the body is very much weakened and loses vitamin C and if you replace it with supplements you strengthen the body and give it a better chance to fight back. This is so absurd they would not allow something so simple as Vitamin C. Please dont open your mouth if you dont know what youre talking about… hob rachmonus !!!

You should be ashamed of this comment! I don’t doubt for a second that if a loved one of your would fall ill (R”l), you would search the world for medications and treatments that are used elsewhere. That is what loving relatives do (just in case you didn’t know). And the fact that a hospital would deny a family the right for a man who would otherwise die a simple vitamin (that’s right – a vitamin; not a serious drug that can cause severe complications, but a simple vitamin which is virtually risk free) is reprehensible and a basic violation… Read more »

But there are also studies that show its efficacy.

This is not a time for clinical trials. People are dying, they either make it or they don’t. If there is a chance that something can save them, you go for it. But C happens to be quite safe. Doctors have egos and that is the only reason they won’t let it in. Sadly.

I had a severe bacterial infection and was in dying shape, hospital couldn’t help me. Took IV C for a month, it saved my life. I know of at least 20 people who’s life was saved by C IV

Pauling’s Nobel was in Chemistry, not Medicine. It was for his research into the nature of chemical bonds, and had nothing whatsoever to do with his Vitamin C mishugaas. In fact he didn’t even start on that until more than 10 years after he got the Nobel. His research on Vitamin C went nowhere, it produced no useful results; but it was a better use of his time than his communist agitation, so there is that. This policy of no family allowed will one day go down in history as a tragic mistake and nasty decision from the medical administration. This unethical, against halachah and possibly in violation of constitutional rights. There’s isn’t even enough protective equipment for people providing medical care, let alone people who are there to visit.

Not to mention, even if one is willing to take the risk for oneself, they would be putting others at risk since it can take up to 2 weeks for symptoms to show in cases of infection. Also, maybe they’re willing to take the risk but what if they get seriously ill? Now they’re in the hospital too, hoping there are enough ventilators to go around.

These Hospitals are all about money. If someone is older they could not care less. I watched a relative of mine dye, with the hospital saying well its an older person. The US is the only Western country without universal healthcare.

The main goal of the insurance/healthcare system in the US is to make money. Not to save lives.

Sure there are exceptions. But in general the main priority is to make a profit.

Thankfully, in most Western countries the healthcare system is largely not for profit and the priority is saving lives, not profit.

For profit hospitals don’t have the patients as their top priority. Profit is their top priority.

I'm witness, mistreatment is going on for many yea
April 6, 2020 7:12 pm

The negligence has nothing to do with how overwhelmed they are now. They have always been nasty to the patients. I have seen with my own eyes how they treated my child. The patients advocate himself said they are anti-semites and will call Child Services against me if I dare speak out against them.

Can you use a different caregiver for you child?

That sounds really unfortunate. In my local hospital, not in NY, you can always write a letter to the hospital to describe your experience. They appreciate feedback, especially if it was a bad experience. Consider writing and calling the appropriate department in the hospital.

Chani

You can do more. The Askonim of the community can get up and make sure that the Jewish Chaplain and a few assistants are going around to make sure someone is okay. Massive media articles need to be written to give these idiots bad publicity. Then something will be done. If someone looks “Chasidish@ they are not interested in helping the patient live bc they “started Carona”. They don’t push for the elderly bc it is a “waste”. Enough there needs to be a system of checks and balances. People in our communities are dying unnecessarily.
