Montreal police have charged a former taxi driver for assaulting a Jewish man in a parking garage this summer, Montreal Gazette reported.
Police did not reveal the suspect’s name or the nature of his charges.
The altercation took place on July 28 and was caught on video.
According to a statement from B’Nai Brith, the man, who was identifiable as a Jew because he was wearing a Yarmulka, was visiting his elderly parents at the time of the assault. The victim, who asked not to be identified, said the cab driver was blocking the underground garage of the parents’ condo building.
The video showed a man taking a photo of a Taxi driver, who then gets out of the car and punches the victim repeatedly until a person intervenes.
According to B’nai Brith, the victim was waiting for the taxi to move from the entrance of the building’s underground garage when the driver allegedly shouted, “I won’t move for any —- Jews.”
