Monticello Village Manager Ray Nargizian met with the media Thursday to announce some $21 million in federal stimulus grants and loans for new water and sewer infrastructure.
But while he was hailing projects that will upgrade the aging sewer plant and replace miles of 100-year-old water and sewer lines, among other projects, some board members are growing worried about the costs.
Residents can expect to pay higher user fees to service a $15 million to $20 million debt.
According to a preliminary estimate, residents could pay $53 more annually for sewer and $112 more annually for water service.
The combined increase, however, could be closer to $200 annually per household, if the village completes all projects on a lengthy wish list.
