This past Sunday, the Friendship Circle treated its mothers to a night of laughter and relaxation. The Friendship Circle, whose goal is to provide assistance to families with special needs children, invited the mothers to the Jewish Children’s Museum for a Comedy and Spa Evening, where they were treated to a break from their normally stressful routines.
The Friendship Circle not only arranges programs for special needs children, but understanding the difficult situations their mothers find themselves in, arranges various events for them as well. This, perhaps, was the finest of them all.
The mothers were pampered for hours, as they found an almost dizzying array of services available.
“We were treated to massages and manicures, it was unbelievable!” said Miriam. “It was such a great opportunity to just get a break for a few hours.”
Others preferred the Color and Style Analysis, or the opportunity to “Style their Own Shaitel.” A full dessert bar was also on hand to satisfy even the most discriminating of palates.
At the end of the evening, Esther Rachel Russell entertained the women with a special comedy hour. The women laughed their way through the aptly titled Breaking through Barriers Laughter Workshop. “It felt so amazing to be able to just sit and laugh for a change,” said one mother. “It was not just a break for me, it was therapeutic.”
In a world were difficulties and hardships are so commonplace, it is indeed heartwarming to find an organization that understand this and provides the necessary assistance to those that need it.
The Friendship Circle was not alone in organizing the event; special thanks must go to all those that assisted in making the evening the success it was, including:
Malky Eckhaus and Mushky Moscowitz; the hair and Shaitel stylists.
Libby Herz; the Color and Style Analyst
Ziva; the makeup artist.
Chaya Ives and Wellsprings; the massage therapists.
Shaina Dubbroff , Shainy Ever, Blumshi Dubroff and Golda Malka Feller; the talented nail technicians for the evening.
Etty Lewis; the photographer
The Dessert Bar was provided by Mr. Greens, Rivka Brysky, Dina Gorodetsky, Malky Eckhaus.
Rivka Turner, Rochi Smetana and the many Friendship Circle Volunteers.
Special thanks also go to Rivky Lokshin and Zevi Steinhauser.
