A Russian drone directly struck the vehicle of Rabbi Yosef and Chaya Wolff, the Chabad Shluchim in Kherson, Ukraine, on Thursday evening.
“We were on our way to Kherson, just under a mile from the military checkpoint,” reported Rabbi Wolff, who serves as the city’s Chief Rabbi.
He was in the car with his wife Chaya and their daughter Raizy when a drone—believed to be Russian—hit their vehicle, causing significant damage.
The airbags deployed instantly, and the Wolff family managed to escape without any physical injuries.
“We are alive because of a miracle,” said Rabbi Wolff in a visibly shaken voice, as he filmed the damaged vehicle.
Police arrived at the scene shortly afterward and launched an investigation. Rabbi Wolff quickly notified the security department of the Jewish Relief Network Ukraine (JRNU).
“Thank you, Hashem, for the gift you’ve given us – the gift of life itself,” Rabbi Wolff said.
