CGI Poconos concluded its first session this week, marking an incredible start to its 14th summer season. During the first session, over 120 Jewish girls from across the country and beyond joined together for an immersive Jewish overnight camp experience designed to build strong Jewish values and lasting friendships.
From the moment campers arrived, they were greeted with boundless joy and warm smiles from the dedicated staff members who worked tirelessly to make this summer a resounding success. The passionate team of counselors, specialists, and head staff creates a nurturing environment that allows campers to grow, learn, and make the most of their time at camp.
In just the first two weeks, campers have participated in a wide range of activities, including swimming, boating, art, baking, dance, sports, archery, and nature hikes, among others. In addition to the fun activities, creative theme days have kept the camp spirit high, with campers dressing up and diving into fun experiences for July 4th, Shtetl Day, Spy Day, Twin Day, and more. Each day brought something different and exciting that everyone could enjoy.
One of the biggest highlights so far was the grand trip to Dorney Park, where campers had an awesome time on roller coasters, water rides, and everything in between.
The Teen Travel division has been on the go with an action-packed schedule, making the most of every day. Their adventures have included a scenic hike at Child’s Park, a full-day experience at Camelback with ziplining, tubing, and mountain coasters, an exciting rafting trip down the Delaware River, and a meaningful and uplifting Shabbaton in Crown Heights, filled with davening and farbrengens. To top it all off, they concluded the first session with a grand trip to Hersheypark.
The campers cherish every minute of their immersive 24-hour camp environment, embracing the opportunity to learn and grow their understanding of Yiddishkeit. From morning till night, they engage in meaningful experiences that deepen their connection to Jewish traditions and values, with the highlight of the week being the preparation and celebration of Shabbos with camp friends.
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating our 14th season, and even more thrilled with the way this summer has begun,” said Gershon Sandler, Executive Director of CGI Poconos. “Our staff have gone above and beyond to create a magical, meaningful experience for every single camper. It’s their passion, dedication, and love for Yiddishkeit that makes our camp so special.”
The camp is made possible by an exceptional team of dedicated staff who play a pivotal role in making this summer at CGI Poconos an overwhelming success. The camp is led by Camp Director – Mrs. Menucha Isenberg. Assistant Director – Mrs. Rivky Sternberg. Program Director – Mrs. Chana Browd. Learning Director – Mrs. Malka Jacobson. Head Counselors – Mushka Cohen, Mushka Lifshits, and Chaya Kogan.
Now in its 14th year, Camp Gan Israel Poconos continues to serve as the leading overnight camp experience for Jewish girls from public school backgrounds, empowering them with pride in their identity and lasting memories of joyful Jewish living.
