Kollel Empire Shtieble – Ahavas Achim in Crown Heights, which meets daily to learn, will complete the first Perek of Kiddushin next week.
A Siyum will be held on Tuesday, 3 Adar, following which the Kollel will begin learning Perek Sheini. The Siyum will be held in memory of Reb Yaakov Winter obm.
The Kollel meets at Empire Shtiebel daily from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
It is geared for all men in the community, especially working or semi-retired businessmen, who are looking to join daily learning.
The Shiur in Gemarah is given by Rabbi Shmuel Heber, a local resident and Talmid Chochom who has served as Rosh Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim in Morristown, NJ. In his popular daily class he teaches a half a blatt of Gemarah a day. The Shiurim are also available on Youtube.
Rabbi Heber invites all who would like to participate the opportunity to join at the start of the new Perek.
“The possuk in the Megillah states ‘LaYehudim hoysa oira V’simcha – For the Jews there was great light,’ the word light refers to the Torah,” Rabbi Heber says. “What better time than in Chodesh Adar to increase in Torah learning.”
On Shabbos morning, a shiur in the maamarim of the Rebbe Maharash is given.
“The Rebbe explains in a maamar about the greatness of learning Torah specifically in a group of 10 and more because it is then that the 13 middos harachamim are drawn,” an organizer noted.
The Kollel is sponsored Liluy Nishmas R’ Meir ben R’ Eliyahu Rabkin and R’ Yaakov Kalman ben R’ Alter Yehoshua Winter by their families.
