The Miami Semicha Program, led by Rabbi Yisroel Frankforter, is revamping its program and offering a Shiur Daled-age bochurim the option to learn Semicha with appropriate shiurim and guidance.
While the Miami Semicha Program has been around for 15 years, they have recently hired Rabbi Aryeh Schechter as Rosh Yeshiva.
Originally from Toronto, Rabbi Schechter learned in the Chabad Yeshivos of Brunoy, France and Kiryat Gat, Israel. He moved to South Florida where he served as a ‘Shoel Umeshiv’ in the Boca Raton Semicha Program and has joined the Miami Semicha Program last year.
“Rabbi Shechter has a profound knowledge of Semicha as well as a keen sense of what bochurim need and want along with the skills to get them to achieve their goals,” Rabbi Frankforter said.
The shiurim focus on practical halocha and on making learning in general and shulchan aruch in particular relevant to today’s life. Semicha will be given by Rabbi Dovid Schochet of Toronto and Rabbi Yitzchok Yehuda Yaroslavsky of Kiryat Malachi, Israel.
Rabbi Frankforter said that while “some bochurim look at Shiur Daled as the springboard to Shlichus, others want to maximize their year and feel accomplished and productive” and the new shiur is the viable option.
