Mesivta Menachem’s new zman has started off with real excitement. The revised curriculum and enhanced learning program has attracted a higher level of bochurim. After only a few weeks, Rabbi Yosef Munitz, the Rosh Yeshiva, likes what he sees. “Our goal,” said Rabbi Munitz, “was to bring bochurim who are already interested in davening and learning, bochurim who would flourish with the personal attention and family like atmosphere we provide. Baruch Hashem we were successful!”
The new Shluchim, Hatomim Chaim Yehoshua Munitz and Baruch Zeitz, have recently initiated their first mivtza of the year. The bochurim who complete the mivtza will be rewarded with a close encounter of Niagara Falls aboard the world famous Maid of the Mist! This has added tremendous chayus to the yeshiva. With the Elul atmosphere already in high gear, the bachurim are looking forward to the Chai Elul farbrengen for even more inspiration.
In keeping with the traditions of Mesivta Menachem and intent on treating the bochurim as family, there was an informal Barbeque, and Seudos at the Shabbos tables of the Hanhola. In addition, the bochurim were rewarded for their fast start with a trip to the Niagara Falls Air reserve station, for an airshow commemorating the 10th anniversary of September 11th. The bochurim, of course, planned on using this unique opportunity for mivtza teffilin. Unfortunately, due to the heightened security they weren’t able to do the Mivtzoim. But they certainly stood out as chassidim and talmidim of the Rebbe as they enjoyed the amazing show put on by the pilots of “Thunder over Niagara”.
The bochurim’s return was also eagerly anticipated by the community of Anash. At his son’s Sholom Zachar, Rabbi Dr. Pinny Young (who gave last year’s course on the negative effects of alcohol) told the bochurim, “Your Torah learning is a zchus for all the balei batim who look to the Temimim as an example of a chaya’l.” This sentiment was echoed by the other members of the community.

I can tell you from experience that the security in Niagara is top notch. But, it’s great that you had in mind to use this opportunity, which could have been just a day out watching an airshow, for the Rebbes Mivtzoim. This is what i call “having you head on straight”. It’s great to hear good news and it’s great to hear that this is the focus of Bochurim. We need Moshiach Now and then the security will be assisting us and not the other way around. Hatzlacha Rabba to the Shluchim on the coming year, and to all the… Read more »
