Chabad of NE Iowa organized festive Menorah Lighting events in NE Iowa, bringing the light of Chanukah and Jewish pride to many.
The events were organized by Shliach Rabbi Aaron Schimmel of Chabad NE Iowa.
A Menorah Lighting event was held in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on the fourth night of Chanukah.
The 10-foot tall menorah was helped lit by Cedar Falls Mayor Rob Green in River Place Plaza. During the ceremony local dignitaries were honored and gifts for handed out to kids in attendance.
The crowd enjoyed entertainment by juggler Mendel Goldstein, latkes and donuts.
Rabbi Schimmel said the holiday helps send a message of light in darkness to people. Something he says is more prevalent this year due to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, and the amount of antisemitism seen around the world.
Chabad NE Iowa also held Menorah Lightings in la Crosse, Wisconsin, Cedar Rapids, Fairfield, and Postville.
