Menachem Mendel, Yosef Yitzchok and Sholom Dovber – these are the new Jewish names of 3 courageous young men who underwent a Bris Milah in the shul of Rostov-on-don in Russia on Monday.
They were originally planning on undertaking this great Mitzvah in honor of the Rebbe Rashab’s 100th yahrtzeit on the 2nd of Nisan, but due to the pandemic, it has been delayed for 4 months of anticipation and uncertainty.
Rostov is known as a city of three Chabad Rebbes. “Today these three brave men have the great zchus to adopt the names of our Rebbeim,” said Rostov’s Chief Rabbi Chaim Danzinger. “We wish them and the other two Brisim today – Eliyahu and Avraham Shlomo – לתורה לחופה ולמעשים טובים!”
“Realizing how special it is to live in the Rebbe Rashab’s city, I wanted to be named in his honor,” said Sergei, now Sholom Dovber. “I was devastated when I was told the Mohel wasn’t able to come on Beis Nisan.”
Today, just 30 minutes after his Bris, Sholom Dovber went to visit the Rebbe Rashab’s Ohel to share the great news with the Rebbe Rashab.
Big thank you to our dear mohel R’ Shaya Shafit for making the trip all the way to Rostov in these uncertain times.

I know what it’s like to be circumcised as an adult. The pain will fade, but the spiritual power that imbues you in that moment will not fade.
Keep on showing the world and the rest of the Shluchim that even in times like we are in now that we don’t forgot about the basics, Can’t wait to come visit again. Keep making the Rebbeh proud
Sincerely proud supporter SG
