As his term draws to a close and as part of his official visit to Israel, New York City Mayor Eric Adams arrived last night for a visit and prayer at the Western Wall.
The outgoing mayor was warmly received by the worshippers and visitors who were present at the Wall during his visit. During the visit, the mayor received an explanation about the importance of this holy site for the Jewish people as a source of prayer, hope, and longing throughout the generations. He was thanked for his unwavering support for the State of Israel and for his fight against antisemitism, and for choosing to conclude his term with a solidarity visit to Israel and to the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
During his visit to the Wall, Mayor Adams said: “I already visited here during my term, and when it ended I wanted to return here, to Israel, and to let you know that I served you as the mayor, but I want to continue to have the title that means more to me than anything: I am your brother. Thank you!”
He then wrote a personal note, which he placed between the stones of the Western Wall, and signed the guest book: “G-d is real, and life has shown us this. May the prayers from this Wall become the reality of life.”
At the end of the visit, Adams toured the new excavations in the Western Wall Tunnels, where archaeological findings from the period of the destruction of the Temple were presented to him, and he toured the new Gateway to Heaven exhibit, recently opened to the public at the Western Wall.

Why are we taking people’s private letters to the Kosel and posting them online? Whether it’s Adam, Trump, or anyone else, a note placed in the Kosel is meant to be personal and between the writer and Hashem. Publicizing it feels inappropriate and against the spirit of what these kvitlach are for
This message was written in the visitors book, not from a personal note.
It was his note in the guest book, not a note in the wall.
This Mayor is so special and unfortunately many will only appreciate this when the new regime comes in. We were very blessed to have a Mayor like Mayor Adams not only as Jews but as New Yorkers. If you were paying attention there were so many ways in which he improved our quality of like through the excellence of his hard work and of his agencies. We can always find what to complain about but for him to go on this trip before he leaves just shows his sincerity and for that we should show hakaras hatov.
Just one way, I’m assuming it was him that made such a strong police presence on the subway. I have been taking the subway for over 10 years and have never experienced so many cops around there and it really helped me breathe easy.
