Joel Eisdorfer, a Chasidic Jew and political activist who is a longtime friend of Mayor Eric Adams, has been appointed a senior advisor to the mayor.
Eisdorfer is the first Chasidic Jewish senior advisor to Mayor Adams and the first Chasidic Jew to be appointed to the position of advisor to City Hall.
Eisdorfer, a Boro Park resident, previously was a board member on the Boro Park Jewish Community Council, served on Brooklyn’s Community Board 12 for nearly two decades, was a community liaison at the New York State Senate for over seven years, and was a member of then-Borough President Adams’ senior staff, Hamodia reported.
Eisdorfer’s appointment was applauded by activists in Crown Heights, with whom he has a long-standing friendship.
“Joel Eisdorfer has been a great friend to the Crown Heights community going back many years,” said Rabbi Chanina Sperlin of the CHJCC. “He is a great choice for this position. He has worked in politics in many capacities, including working hand in hand with Fred Kreizman, and is very familiar with the needs of the Jewish communities of the city. We thank the Mayor for bringing 3 Orthodox Jews to City Hall who will work well to serve for the benefit of the entire community.”
Eisdorfer is the third Orthodox Jew appointed to the Adams administration’s senior staff, including Menashe Shapiro as deputy chief of staff and Fred Kreizman as Commissioner of the mayor’s Community Affairs Unit.

Mazal tov Joel. This position is well-deserved. You have been with the Mayor throughout his career and stood by him. You are a truly wonderful person. May you always have much success as you continue on this journey.
