popularity on a decline ?? his song “one day” was played after every wold cup game. and it was one of the theme songs of the winter olympics… so obviously popularity is not his issue…
why cant you just take it at face value!!!

ahavas yisroel getting the job done
September 19, 2010 12:06 pm

@ #26,#42 Having loshon hara doesnt make you special. I’m sure there are people with LH about you but dont bother posting it or dangling the idea that they could post plenty about you if they wanted to. Your response #42 just shoes that your orginal post #26 was not genuine. that is not your real problem with matisyahu. Lets have more ahavas yisroel and perhaps lets take the I out of your venacular for a little while. you’ll become more receptive to constructive criticism and less criticial of others. On a separate note Matisyahu has really done a lot… Read more »

There was Bob Dylan, though didn’t speak Torah, spoke clever truth in his early music. M’s lyrics may reach, but the style seem just a marketing gimmic.

Oh, if I wanted to, I have plenty to say that is LH. But I won’t.

Have a good Yom Tov & try not to be so self-righteous & patronizing in the future.

Very nice interview! But out of curiosity why did he leave chabad? And is he still close to the shliach that he started off with?

I teach in a modern orthodox co ed school and it’s amazing to see Matisyahu inspiring the boys and girls about Moshiach and the ”one day…” that even YU students sing it in their acapella.Just keep it up mechayil el chayil

Not only was the comment not in the spirit of the day, but perhaps you are not aware that Matisyahu’s popularity in the general music scene is growning beyond his wildest dreams.
He does not “need” any props for promotion.

Matisayhu is a great indivdual who has inspired many lives and brought people closer to EMES. Its ok if you dont agree with everything he has done, your entitled to your own opinion, its a free country. Yet we have something called Ahavas Yisroel which included in this mitzvahh is not speaking Lashon Hara. I think especialy a day before Yom Kippur and during Asaras Yimi Teshuvah you might want to rethink your comment, and in the future for anybody who likes to comment I have some words of wisdom, we tell our young children, “If you have nothing nice… Read more »

VERY NICE!
September 16, 2010 4:44 pm

THIS IS VERY WELL DONE AND VERY WELL EXPLAINED WHAT HE wants to say and explain over and may everyone all over see this video and learn about their roots.

and I agree with comment 12 – havent really heard him speak so down-to-earth.

he seems tired here…

Matisyahu is clearly a deeply spiritual individual who was blessed with unique talent. His connection to G-d, Judaism, mitzvot and to Chabad, mentioning his first rabbi shines through. He is so very unassuming and aidel. I am sure that his rabbi who gave him permission to perform musically while he was at yeshiva, was wise and perceptive and knew Matisyahu.
I am proud of you Matisyahu and you should be proud of yourself in the best sense of the word.

No coincidence that his comment number is shem havaya because he speaks emmes. This is a real agent’s job. Enjoy Matisyahu or don’t but he is an entertainer and no more.

yeah i agree 770 is busy but you have lots of people rootin for your outreach

Here we go again
September 16, 2010 7:41 am

Is his popularity on the decline? Every time he needs publicity he starts talking about Chabad. I’m in the minority, but I don’t like my Kehilla, my Shluchim & most importantly, My Rebbe used as a way to boost a secular singer’s ratings.

#20, trust me, he didn’t.

Dear Matisyahu Shyichye; As a Bocher listening to your music since you started (And even when it was just for us in Crown Heights) I have to say i look up to you. Ive always loved your music and was always so proud when i heard someone who was not yet Frum saying that they heard your music and liked it. PLEASE, Keep the style you started with, i.e. Pure, Chassidisher music with a twist. PLEASE, Mention more concepts of Chassidus in your songs. As someone who sees you around Crown Heights very often, i have to say, its always… Read more »

I never really heard him speak before. He is so soft-spoken and really careful with the way her phrases everything he says. It shows that you can be big and small all at the same time, inside and out. What a beautiful way to represent the Jewish people to the world.
