Six years ago, at the International Kinus Hashluchim, Rabbi Sholom Raichik of Chabad of Upper Montgomery county Maryland, stood before thousands of his fellow shluchim, to advocate for a fellow Lubavitcher Chossid in urgent need of a kidney donation.
Inspired by the call to action, Rabbi Raichik swabbed at that very event, joining the donor registry in the merit of the individual he spoke for.
Yesterday, that journey came full circle.
Rabbi Raichik has become a kidney donor himself—giving the gift of life to a remarkable 78-year-old woman. Thanks to his selfless act, she now has the chance to live a newly energized life, filled with possibilities.
This powerful story is a testament to the enduring impact of a single moment—and the extraordinary ripple effect of chesed.
May Rabbi Raichik’s example continue to inspire acts of kindness and courage in all of us.
