Mordechai (Mark) Braham, grandfather and great-grandfather of a large Chabad family, passed away at the age of 96.
‘Grandpa’ as he was so affectionately known, was a kind Neshama whose family was instrumental in building Sydney’s famed South Head synagogue. He was a pillar at Minyan everyday for decades who regularly would say Kaddish for all those who didn’t have family to say Kaddish for them, he delivered meals and hosted Friday night dinners for elderly who didn’t have where to spend Shabbos, well into his 90’s.
He was a man of unbreakable faith, and when challenged in life, never wavered. He spoke and wrote his opinion regularly as a staunch defender of Israel and the Jewish people. In his later years despite his age would travel frequently to Los Angeles to spend more time with his growing family of grandchildren and great children Ki”yh.
He cherished each day as a gift from Hashem and would make time to study Torah each day, with a twinkle in his eye, a L’chaim and a good joke.
He was predeceased by his daughter Rochel Simons OB”M, wife Esther Rivka OB”M and son Micheal OB”M.
He is survived by his children David Braham and Debbie Foxman. Funeral will be held at Sydney’s Chevre Kadisha Sunday at 11am.
