An emotionally unstable individual in possession of a machete was taken for a psychiatric evaluation on Monday afternoon in Crown Heights.
The incident began near Eastern Parkway and Brooklyn Avenue when a witness saw the suspect damaging a car’s license plate and called Crown Heights Shmira.
When Shmira volunteers arrived, they observed the individual holding a street sign, kicking chairs, and threatening people. NYPD was immediately notified.
As officers detained him, they discovered he was carrying a machete. He was not charged and was transported to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
Please be aware of your surroundings. In case of an emergency, call 911 and Shmira 24/7 at 718-221-0303.

The unstable man was apprehended outside of Lubavitch Yeshiva Crown Street. The system will release this man back into the neighborhood . Crown Heights had these walking zombies everywhere.

This is the result of shelters. Can someone explain why Brooklyn Community Board 9 approved all the homeless shelters in Crown Heights?
The two CAMBA shelters (built circa 2016), located on west side of Albany Ave between Clarkson and Winthrop were championed by pro-development “volunteer” Jews on the community board, which advanced their interests (jobs with NYS) over the community’s safety. Same thing for CB 9 approving the shelter on ENY Ave(2016). The Clarkson Ave by E 49th was not approved but ignored by CB 9. Back in 1998, the two shelters were voted down by CB 9, but that is when African Americans marched on Clarkson – but those individuals are in their 80’s now – I speak to them –… Read more »

What a crooked system. This man was not put under arrest rather sent for a psych eval. I have news for us. There is a 700 bed shelter coming to town. Before we start asking where is the Vaad hakahal I want to say this. They are only as good as us . WE MUST ALL do something. The schvartze working families are all fighting . They are fighting even HARDER than us. They ask me at the meetings, ” Where are your people?” I have no words. GET INVOLVED. I am begging you. Secondly, the owners of the ”… Read more »
The results of all the homeless shelters around CH.
A Ness that no one was stabbed!!!!!
It was a crime against humanity to place multiple drug shelters into our community. The leaders of CH should sue.
They are going to ‘evaluate’ him and put him right back in our streets. He wasn’t even charged with possession of a weapon or disturbance if peace. The police did not even arrest him.
they arrested him and sent him to a hospital with cops following behind to arrest him after he gets treated
I was there when it happend it was outside a school
They did not arrest and charge him with anything.
Ty crown heights shmira!!
The countless hours you spend on patrol, responding to incidents, and engaging with residents make a significant difference in our neighborhood. It’s reassuring to see how you foster a sense of safety and community spirit among us all.
I extend my thanks to each member in Shmira. We are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated individuals serving our crown heights community.
Thank you once again for your tireless efforts. Together, we can continue to make Crown Heights a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

Some of us, very few and terribly disappointing did show up to that
Board 9 meeting in the public school on Empire and Troy. The buildings
were already going up. What was the point of all that wasted time.
They can ignore every meeting, every petition. We have no representation because Jewish Crown Heights district was- intentionally- chopped up so that you can never have a cohesive vote even for a councilman. If you want to improve things, that’s where to start.
When you start closing Rikers, and close down the psych wards in favor of minimally supervised “supportive housing”, which operates under the term affordable housing, is there any doubt what happens from a lack of medical care and penal enforcement ?
