Man Injured in Terror Stabbing on Jerusalem Bus

A 41-year-old man was stabbed on a bus next to the Ramot mall on Golda Meir Street in Jerusalem on Tuesday evening.

The terrorist, who was apparently armed with an axe, was neutralized by security forces.

United Hatzalah volunteer paramedic Zeev Sofer, who was one of the first responders at the scene, said: “When I arrived at the scene I treated a 41-year-old man who was stabbed while riding on a bus. He was moderately injured and after he was treated at the scene he was transported to Sharei Zedek Hospital for further care.”

At 4:57, the police center received a report of a stabbing incident on the Egged Line 137 bus while traveling from the direction of Givat Zeev to Jerusalem, in the area of ​​the exit from the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem on the Golda Meir intersection. Police from the Jerusalem district were called to the scene and closed the area and began investigating the case.

A preliminary investigation of the attack revealed that the terrorist, a Palestinian, a resident of Judea and Samaria in his forties, who was traveling on a bus, suddenly began stabbing one of the bus passengers with a screwdriver, police said.

The bus driver stopped the bus and opened the doors. At this point, passengers began to get off the bus, including the terrorist who continued to try to attack the passengers. A civilian who passed by at the same time and noticed what was happening, tried to hit the terrorist in order to stop his actions and another citizen who entered the scene fired at the terrorist and neutralized him.

The victim, who was moderately wounded, was evacuated to Shaarei Tzedek Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Later, the terrorist turned to the hospital for medical treatment in fair condition.
