An African American male alleged to have been regularly walking off with parcels from the doorposts of Crown Heights homes was captured on camera, last week.
Sporting a hat and a messenger bag, the man was filmed this past Thursday picking up boxes and stealing them from the front porch of a home on Crown Street.
“We ordered things from Amazon,” the homeowner told COLlive.com. “The Post Office left it on the porch and this guy in the picture came up in broad daylight at 5:57 pm and took the boxes off the porch.”
The resident said that a neighbor reported that boxes have been taken from their homes down the block.
“This man lives in Crown Heights and has been doing this for a while,” the resident said. “Police don’t know who he is but he has been doing this for a while now.”
A report has been filed and the NYPD is investigating the matter. If you can identify the person in the picture, please call 9-1-1.
UPDATE:
Another Jewish resident of Crown Heights came forward and told COLlive.com that a similar incident, with the same person, happened at his home 3 weeks ago.
Surveillance footage he provided shows the alleged thief walking with a dog on Carroll Street, between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenues, on Friday afternoon and walking off with a package.
“The video is pretty clear and may help to catch him,” he said.
On 04/03/15 Erev Pesach….we had left home already!!! NYPD should leave out bunch of boxes or have ups driver leave empty boxes at a few houses, since these guys follow the trucks. put it in plain view and watch it.
He’s stealing in broad daylight, the question is how he gets away with it so easily ???

These delivery issues happen to the Jewish homes in this neighborhood. I’ve actually stopped to notice how packages are delivered to the black homes. Do they same. It may be enlightening.
We also have a USPS package from Amazon that is missing. It was delivered on Thursday
Whenever I call and confirm a redelivery they don’t even bother come again! They just send it back to sender… SO ANNOYING!!
To# 3 What’s more annoying is that they just leave a sticker on the door (when somebody’s home) and then I have to go to the post office (and I feel like killing myself) to pick it up. Because if I call to redeliver the come back and put another sticker . I’m talking about USPS

About 2 months ago a man walked up our steps, stole our package, carried it down to the street and and then was putting it into a big tote bag as I happened to walk outside. I accidently caught him and he sheepishly gave it to me and ran off. He looked older than this man, was black and in scruffy clothes.
About a month ago, someone has been taking packages for about 2 weeks from 10 different residents.
Unless he borrowed it, that dog should be a pretty big clue…
I filed a claim and got the money so I didn’t go to the police who will waste my time and will never do anything anyway
The card he plays is that he looks like a normal, older, educated and caring man. He has a fluffy white nice dog and even was carrying a bag to clean up the dog poop..but he steals!! creepy! Maybe he’s a kleptomaniac? He does it so casually…or maybe hes just a real creep in good disguise..

What’s so annoying is that lately the post office doesn’t bother to ring the bell, they leave the packages on the porch. Even when someone is home! Of course packages keep getting stolen. It’s crazy that people don’t do their jobs properly.
