Kosher wine enthusiasts have a new home and it’s called JWines.com, the Internet’s latest source for mid-to-upscale kosher wine.
The recently launched website dedicated to all things a corkscrew can open is aiming to redefine the wine shopping experience online.
“Today, you have two choices in wine buying sites: hard to navigate retailers or high-end purveyors that appeal to the pretentious,” explains the founder Dovid Perelman. “We wanted to provide better, friendlier alternative.”
Perelman grew up in Western Pennsylvania around the bottles of wine his father Shlomo Perelman has been selling for the Pinskers Wine & Spiritualities store he founded in 1954.
Another early business training Dovi got was when he worked for Judaism.com, billed the Internet’s largest Judaic store which was founded by his father in 1994 and has partnered with Chabad.org’s network of websites.
The recently married Perelman remembers how his youth was spent “working in my father’s store, listening to talk about wine, and hearing my father emphasize that, no matter where they are located, customers come first.”
All which led his to create JWines.com, an inviting, informative and forward looking site that sees itself as a virtual community for wine aficionados and connoisseurs.
“If a visitor wants information, the answers are instantly available. If the visitor wants specials, they are easy to find. If a visitor wants help, our staff can recommend wine for any event, as well as wine-related gifts, and wine accessories.
One of those examples was featured for Purim. For the gift titled “The Ultimate Wine Lover’s Shaloch Manos,” JWines curators have selected the fine parmigiano cheese, artisan handmade chocolates, and have paired them with the award winning Yogev Cabernet/Merlot and a Rabbit corkscrew.
But now he and his staff have their eyes set on Pesach and the 4 cups everyone is instructed to down during a single evening.
Jwines.com is currently offering up to 40% off sales on select wines. That is in addition to their regular low prices, cost price shipping and their sales on the featured “Winery of the Month” (this month 15% off Castle Wines from Israel’s Judean Hills).
According to Perelman, what really sets JWines.com apart is his company’s commitment to customers. It’s a commitment that he learned early on in life from his father.
Perelman believes that his enthusiastic, “passion without pretense” approach is just made to order for today’s kosher wine consumers.
“We’re looking for the wine buyers who share our passion for the flavor and bouquet of fine wine who but want to avoid paying through the nose to get it.”
The website allowed browsers to narrow down their search to type, price, producer, varietals and mevushal or non mevushal. They also offer private labeling capability, a blog dedicated to wine buying, storing, and collecting, and links to well-known wineries and wine aficionados.
Additional discounts are given to large quantities ordered by synagogues and institutions.
“You should be a Chossid, a Yerusholayim and a Rambam”!
While some of the prices look very competitive, some postings don’t specify the vintage YEAR making it difficult to know what is being purchased.
