A group of members of the Chabad community in Hewlett Neck and Old Woodmere, Long Island, visited Crown Heights on Sunday for a tour of the neighborhood.
The group was accompanied by their Shluchim, Rabbi Mendel and Goldie Gordon, the daughter and son-in-law of Five Towns Head Shliach Rabbi Zalman Wolowik. The Gordons have been very successful in reaching out to the community and encouraging them to connect to their Judaism by offering many programs and classes for the entire community.
The group spent an uplifting and inspiring day touring the Rebbe’s Library, the Rebbe’s Room in 770 and the Rebbe’s home on President Street.
One highlight of the trip was a meeting with Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice Chairman of Merkos, and the grandfather of Goldie Gordon. Rabbi Kotlarsky inspired the group with anecdotes and stories of Chabad’s impact around the world.
