On Wednesday evening, July 9th, 2025, Yeshiva Torah Ohr hosted a powerful Chasidic Farbrengen, drawing over 300 people from the local community. The gathering commemorated the Chag Hageulah of Yud Beis-Yud Gimmel Tammuz, marking the Frierdiker Rebbe’s liberation from Soviet imprisonment in 1927—a pivotal moment in Chabad history.
The evening featured renowned Mashpia Rabbi Yossi Paltiel of Crown Heights, who led the Farbrengen until the early hours of the morning. Rabbi Paltiel spoke extensively about the mesiras nefesh of the Frierdiker Rebbe.
Honoring Rabbi Avrohom Korf OBM
A significant part of the Farbrengen was dedicated to Rabbi Avrohom Korf OBM, the Head Shliach of Florida, who passed away on 12 Tammuz, just one day before the event. Both Rabbi Immanuel Storfer, the event organizer, and Rabbi Paltiel spoke movingly about Rabbi Korf’s life and immense mesiras nefesh.
They highlighted the fitting connection between Rabbi Korf’s yahrtzeit and this special day, noting that Rabbi Korf himself had studied in the Frierdiker Rebbe’s underground yeshiva and truly led a life of mesiras nefesh, literally bringing Judaism to hundreds and thousands of Yidden in the State of Florida.
It should be noted that Rabbi Korf was a yearly participant in the 12-13 Tammuz farbrengen at Yeshiva Torah Ohr, the yeshiva which he himself founded under the directives of the Rebbe. Many in the audience remember how Rabbi Korf would farbreng and dance to the shira vzimra with the radiance of the simcha and truth of his holy neshama lighting up all those around him. You couldn’t help but be impacted by the glaring truth and connection to the Rebbe he possessed while in his presence.
The event was a collaborative partnership of Congregation Magen David, Yeshiva Torah Ohr, and Bais Menachem Chabad of North Miami Beach. Shimon Tevel (347-775-4051) provided elegant, heartfelt, and joyous music throughout the night, inspiring the crowd. For those unable to attend in person, the Farbrengen was broadcast live on COLlive.com, reaching thousands of viewers online.
