The Jewish Girls Unite Virtual School invites girls and women to a 3-part celebration on the power of prayer through art, melody, personal reflections, and original student projects on Wednesdays June 2, 9, 16 at 7:30 pm est.
JGU students are transforming a sense of powerlessness amid personal and global challenges into the power of prayer and connection, says Nechama Laber, JGU Director.
The series begins today with the first program called “Pray with HeART” featuring Tefillah art and reflections by JGU students on how they infuse Tefillah with meaning. JGU is also launching a pilot My Prayer Planner & Journal, a personal guide to intentional and inspired daily living through the Siddur. Girls and women should bring a journal, pen, and markers to get the full experience.
For Part two, girls and their grandmothers are invited to “Paint a Prayer” to express the power of prayer through connecting and painting with feature artist Chana Laber. This program will be in collaboration with Rochi Shemtov, founder of Circles. Participants should bring acrylic paint, paintbrushes, and a canvas.
The final session on June 16, will feature Prayer through poetry and song with a live concert starring singer, Chaviva Tarlow, and talented JGU students. Participants will sing along to melodies that add vitality to our prayers.
The virtual program on zoom is an open house for all Jewish girls and women to sample what JGU is all about. The 3-part series is dedicated to the loving memory of Claire Kosden Perskie’s 1st Yartzeit.
