Shabbat in the Heights, organized by the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI), is set to draw 500 participants from more than 27 cities worldwide for a three-day program culminating on Sunday, 16 Iyar, May 3, featuring 25 speakers and personalities.
The program will include a range of sessions and experiences, from Shabbos morning Chassidus classes with Rabbi Naftali Silberberg and lectures by Mrs. Chanie Krasnianski, to a sermon by Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet.
Attendees will also have opportunities to tour the Rebbe’s home with Berlin Rabbi Yehuda Tiechtel, engage with Rabbi Manis Friedman, and participate in farbrengens led by Rabbi Raleigh Resnick and Mrs. Shaindy Jacobson.
Participants are expected to arrive from a wide geographic range, including cities such as Salt Lake City and Germany, reflecting the program’s international reach.
Organizers say the initiative is focused on tangible outcomes. “Every year, we see people return home supercharged to make real change,” said Rabbi Chaim Hanoka, chairman of the program.
Examples cited from previous years include participants undertaking mitzvah commitments such as arranging a bris, enrolling children in Jewish schooling, and purchasing tefillin for the first time. “This is no fluff-fest,” Hanoka said. “This is where real change happens.”
